Charity event between Ngee Ann Poly, SPCA and Customized Jigsaw Puzzle

Hi Everyone,

Hope everyone is getting excited for the upcoming CNY festive celebration. Recently,some Ngee Ann Polytechnic students actually email me to sponsor them an A1 size puzzle for a charity event which all amount raise will be donated to SPCA. I find it very meaningful and decided to help up in the process of the customized jigsaw puzzle.

Firstly, each small pieces are suppose to sell it at a value to anyone who wish to donate. They can either choose to buy a piece of puzzle at $1.00 or $5.00 to leave thier name on the recognition borad.

The whole event is a success as heard from the students. I yet to receive any news on the amount collected, but looking at the picture below, it seem that quite a lot of people donated some amount.

Therefore, great work to all the students and looking forward to other charity event that I can contribute.

It have been a crazy month for Oct 2010. Sorry for not doing my part by uploading the designs. Ever since I started helping customers to customize puzzle, i felt so happy for them as they can prepared a unique present for their love ones.

A2 Jigsaw Puzzle by Desmond

This is a very urgent order that was placed by Desmond. We barely communicate less than 2 times and the confirmation of the design is reply to me.

The pictures were only sent to me at 4.30am, and I replied Desmond at 6.30am. This is a urgent order for his friend as he/she is flying off. Therefore, we schedule to meet at 10.30pm at Hougang area to deliver the puzzle to him. It was pretty "siong" for me as I need to travel from Choa Chu Kang to Hougang. However, this pay off when I saw the satifaction face from Desmond. The satifactions are the main motivation for me to carry on this jigsaw puzzle business.

How a huge joint jigsaw puzzle works?

Hi Everyone,

I have been receiving some enquiry on huge puzzle that is beyond A1 size. To let user have a clear understanding of how the huge puzzle is process, I decided to post one of the example in the blog.

Customer would usually inform us the dimension of the puzzle with the design. The final design will be divided into few pieces in fix sizes like A3,A2 or A1. After completing the compression of the jigsaw puzzle, it will be sent to a specialist who do customized frame. The framing process should take about 3 working days.

One of the final outlook is shown below:

This is make up of 8 pieces of A1 puzzle and it is display in one of the corporate customer lobby. To give a better view of how big the combine puzzle looks, I have taken it together with the 2/3 seaters sofa as benchmark.

Hi Everyone,

A lot of my customers start to enquiry my puzzle. I really have to say a big thanks to everyone who ordered or recommend to their friends.

Most of the customers ask me on how is the design process flow? In the initial stage, customer will send in their raw photo to me. After receiving the photo, I will choose one of the photo as the main feature picture. After completing the first layout, I will send to my customer for confirmation. This is one of my customer work which was correspond with her during the first layout.

The first layout might not be the one that Shavonne prefer. Therefore, She will give me some feedback to amend for the confirmation design. This is how the amended design come out during the second round:

However, there is still some area that Shavonne would like to amend. Therefore, assisted her in the final layout and she confirmed on the latest design:

All designs are subjective to each individual. Some would love a piece of art, while the others might not. Therefore, I am trying to accomodate on each individual customer. As I really hope they can recive a piece of personalized gift for their love ones.

Tips on photo selection for Jigsaw Puzzle

Hi Everyone,

It going to be weekend soon...yeah!

I have received quite a numnbers of enquiry on how many photos can they use in the customized jigsaw puzzle. Therefore, I would like to give some advice on my thoughts as shown in the following:

1) A4 size puzzle: 2-3 photos
2) A3 size puzzle: 4-5 photos
3) A2 size puzzle: 5-6 photos
4) A1 size puzzle: 7-8 photos

There shall be one feature photo used as the main background and the rest would add in as "memories" photos. Those memories photo should keep it simple so that it allows the feature photo to stand out.

The quality of photo also affect the final product. Therefore, it will be best to send in photo that are taken from digital camera or handphone camera with high mega pixel. Else, pictures from handphone camera that were taken in low resolution will affect its quality.

These are just my two cent worth of thoughts:)

Quality of the picture

Hi Everyone,

I have received lot of email from customer asking whether the printout will be clear? I would suggest some benchmarking for your reference:

1) Photo size that is about 1mb will be good enough for clear quality.
2) However, if you wish to have sharp picture, the photo file size should be around 4mb.
3) The dpi of the setting when you decided to design your own collage.

I have a customer known as Wayne, who send me one of the most high resolution file to me for the puzzle compression. The final product that he received is almost the same as what he send it to me in photo format. I have an example of the photo quality.

New caricature drawing services added !

Hi Everyone,

I have been busy designing for 15 customers for the past 4 days. I will try to post more design soon for the next few days.

A lot of people had actually called or email me to enquiry on the caricature drawing that I had drawn for my wife. As you can see in the picture, this is actually conceptualise from my wedding photo shot.

Caricature drawing can be used for many stuffs. Some of the items that I had converted for my wedding are the wedding favors, Jigsaw puzzle and invitation card.

Since there is a demand in caricature drawing, I will start to accept order if anyone is keen to get a drawing for their love ones. The charges for each character will be $75.00. Example, a couple drawing will be 2 x $75.00. I would also like to share with you that caricature drawing actually take up a lot of time in the planning and drawing. Each character will take up about 4 hours each. Therefore, I hope the cost can justify on the number of hours put in.

I just got an new order from Bryan. One of the friend introduce my services to him. He requested for a A2 puzzle with a very simple photo collage. Only able to get 2 pictures from him. I hope his friend love the jigsaw puzzle and design.

I did up one more photo collage for my wife a few days ago. I actually drop in a few shadows to all the photo. Those are some memories which Jelene and I will always remember:)

The order process for the customized puzzle can be made via email (customizedpuzzle@gmail.com) or phone. You can choose to email me all the pictures to my email address and I will response to your inquiry within a working day. Should you have any doubts of the ordering process, you can also call me first (96704167) to clarify. After confirming the ordering date and product, payment can be made via internet banking, ATM transfer or credit card payment. For ATM or internet banking, kindly assist to transfer to POSB Saving account @ 003597563. As for credit/debit card payment, an electronic payment by Paypal will be sent to your email address. Puzzle without frame

Hi Everyone,

One of the customers told me to share with everyone how the puzzle will be packed without the frame. Therefore, I decided to show the final product without frame.

First of all, all puzzles (Applicable for A2 and A1 sizes only) come along with a beautiful box. The loose puzzle pieces will be pack into a PE transparent plastic bag, and later pack into the box. Refer to the picture shown below for the box:

I will also add in a piece of glossy sticker onto the box cover to indicate a special customized gift for your love ones.

After the packing, it is all ready to give out as a gift.

UPDATE: As on 28 August 2010, the sticker will not be given out for puzzle without frame. The main reason is because I have received feedback from customers that the picture give/create a non-surprise moment for their love ones. Therefore, the sticker will not be carried on with immediate effect. ---- Thank you.

After calculating all the costs, I have decided on the following costs for each individual puzzle:

A1 Puzzle with frame : $179.90 nett
A1 Puzzle without frame: $149.90 nett

A3 Puzzle with frame: $49.90 nett

I will send the draft photo collage for you to vet through before sending the design for cutting. Upon that, I will personally deliver the puzzle to your door step:)

I have also did a puzzle for one of the customers who had ordered a A1 puzzle with frame. However, he did not want the photo collage, therefore, I alias with my brother at www.reddotconcept.com for the caricature drawing. The drawing cost $90 (two characters) and the turn around time is about a week. After completing the drawing, it was sent to me to process the puzzle. And here is the final product:

Hi Everyone,

I am Ernee Ong from Singapore. The purpose of setting up this blog is mainly due to my interests in creating collage pictures and fixing jigsaw puzzle. Initially, I mainly enjoys designing all the collage pictures for my love ones - Jelene aka my wife. However, my interest later get some attention with friends and they encourage me to provide these services (making collage puzzle) to public customers. The idea strike me and here I am writing my first post.

I will slowly post up some of the collage pictures which I had did.

I am now trying to fix the final pricing for the puzzles. The puzzle size ranges from A4 to A1, and I decided to provide free delivery to island wide:)
